About the Grand Traverse Heritage Council

The Grand Traverse Heritage Council was created in May of 2016 as an effort to support the numerous independent organizations and agencies committed to the preservation and presentation of the story of our common heritage. The Council is a non-profit Michigan corporation operating under Section 501(c)3 of the code of the US Internal Revenue Service.

The Council is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of citizens of a number of regional communities who share a commitment to the expansion of knowledge of our shared history and common culture.

In accord with State and Federal regulations the Council makes available for public view its most recent tax return (when available) and IRS Letter of Determination of tax-exempt status.
